The Sklar family has been in the business of agriculture since they arrived on US shores from Czechoslovakia.  The farming operation began in the 1900s in Lavaca and Victoria County’s and then in 1937 the first farm was purchased in Jackson County in the community of El Toro.  The Sklar’s have farmed grain sorghum, soybeans, cotton and corn over the years and always had cattle on a place or two as well.  In 2016, after a career in the oilfield and working as the Executive Director of the Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas Shane Sklar came back to his family roots in production agriculture to farm alongside his father.  Shane created El Toro Farms and raises cotton and corn in and around the community of El Toro and sells LG Seeds corn and grain sorghum.  Shane and his wife Jill have three kids…Maggie, John Rhett and Vivian who enjoy the farm life as much as their parents.  El Toro Farms is a family business committed to raising the highest quality row crops along the Texas Gulf Coast.
